After 62 years The Apple Pan is still going strong.
When I first moved to Los Angeles from the mid-west I couldn’t seem to find a burger in Los Angeles worth eating. Of course I voiced my complaints and the general response was that I must have not been to The Apple Pan yet. I quickly changed that and it’s now become one of my favorite places in Los Angeles.
While shooting at The Apple Pan in West Los Angeles today I met a variety of people, all of which were excited to share the story of how the popular restaurant fit into their lives. When the food is this good, you get happy customers, proud customers. I met Terry who asked me how long I thought she had been coming there. I was way off when I guessed 20 years, she laughed and said, “Try 50 years.” I met another man in his 30′s who remembers eating at the restaurant at 5 years old, a toddler enjoying the perfect French fries and a first timer with his loyal Apple Pan friend.
Everything has its place at the restaurant and the workers look happy to be there. They seem content, proud, just like the customers.
The Apple Pan is small and simple and there’s not too much to the menu. They don’t need gimmicks the quality speaks for itself. Quality Forever, that’s what their sign reads and that’s all it needs to say.
