Hawaii

I believe you’ve seen enough Hawaii photos…
This is a view of Hawaii that is everywhere if you’re paying attention, if you leave the resort and wander. It’s what makes Hawaii charming, makes you want to be a part of it but not disturb it. I absolutely love that this building has been left alone.

Amy & Ryan & Megafaun

May 16th, 2009 § 0

Milwaukee, Wisconsin
This was not your ordinary wedding. Amy and Ryan actually planned their wedding date around the band’s schedule.
The fact that Megafaun was performing at their wedding made this couple happier than a pair of clams. I was pretty giddy to be a part of it all as well. I mean just look at their beards! Ryan even tried to eat one of them. It sounds funny now, but you’ll understand when you see the photo.

Chef Fred Eric & Tiara Café

May 13th, 2009 § 0

Tiara Cafe, Downtown Los Angeles
This story on Fred Eric and The Tiara Café was an absolute pleasure to shoot. It’s not very often that I’m able to spend this much real time with my subjects. It was refreshing to see a chef himself picking up ingredients, actually going to the farmers market and creating the specials for the week. It’s just too important to send someone.
You can quickly see that these fun trips to the market are a regular part of his children’s lives. Notice the little baby lizard resting on his daughter’s knee. Those two were like peas and carrots, so cute!
The farmers market was just the start to this little story. Later I followed Fred around the restaurant watching him cook while I taste tested and oh yeah, took pictures.
If you haven’t been to Tiara Café yet, now is the time.
Tiara Café = great food, a funky Fred Eric toy collection, and a whimsical environment.

Baby Tattooville Artists

May 11th, 2009 § 0

What a great name, Baby Tattooville!
It definitely leaves you wanting to know more. Baby Tattooville is an exclusive annual 3 day artist retreat that Mr. Bob Self has created for no other reason than for his appreciation for art and the talented people who create it. One of the highlights of the event was an art jam that took place continuously over the 3 days. 24/7 whenever they felt inspired, the artists all took they turn contributing to the same canvas. It was truly amazing to witness this work of art changing and taking shape. I can’t wait for BTV 2009 and to see what spectacular group of artists Bob has come up with this year!
Here are some portraits of a few contributing artists from 2007 and 2008.
