I’ve wanted to start this blog for a while now but for some reason I kept putting it off. Why would I postpone something I’m excited about? My brain does it all the time.

Oh sure my logical side said it was because I was too busy but my heart came up with the real reason. I still wasn’t quite sure what I had to say or how I could possibly pick one single image to start with.

Last night I went to a discussion lead by photographer Andrew Southam entitled Singular Vision. The focus was on photographers and artists recognizing and owning their vision. The biggest inspiration I got out of the night was something Andrew shared with us from photographer Richard Avedon. Avedon talked about his own vision and how with photography he kept around what most people would have just throw away: seeing something, trusting yourself and letting go.

So maybe this blog is about me sharing with you the things I’ve decided to not throw away.
